Introduced in 1955, the CJ-5 ushered in a new era in Jeep history. The bodywork, derived from the M38A1, presented numerous innovations compared to the CJ-3B: the door compartments were wider and the bonnet was redesigned; the front panels were of a more rounded shape. Dimensions varied with increased length, width and height and a 2.54m wheelbase. It was then that the Jeep took on the forms that would characterize it until 1986. The engine was the Hurricane, a 2.2-liter 4-cylinder with over 70hp. The CJ-5 remained in production until 1965.
